About Mr Ian David Johnson:

Ian David Johnson is a convincing smooth talker, who has a lengthy track record in seducing people to part with substantial sums of cash in return for “opportunity”. He targets individuals who are both vulnerable and desperate and systematically and cynically convinces them of his supreme confidence both in the “opportunity” presented and the target individual’s “inevitable” personal and financial success.

Many people are so persuaded and commit to buying a franchise involving a substantial financial outlay, usually in the form of both an up-front licence fee and ongoing monthly fees for a minimum five-year period. Two examples of his Mr Johnson’s schemes are:

The Infinite Group

Up-front fee: £30,000
Monthly fees over the term: £90,000 (£1,500 per month or 10% of earnings, whichever is greater)
Total liability: £120,000

Luminar International

Up-front fee:£100,000
Monthly fees over the term:£180,000 (£3,000 per month)
Total liability:£280,000

Inevitably, franchisees fail to achieve anything like the success promised, as Ian Johnson’s schemes lack both substance and support. They are then picked off one by one and persuaded by Johnson that their own shortcomings are the reason for their failure. They are persuaded to continue, to follow the “system” and that success will follow.

In the absence of sufficient revenue from their franchise, most franchisees find themselves unable to continue to meet their financial obligations. Johnson persuades them to continue and accrue a debt, which he then takes aggressive steps to collect at a time of his choosing.

Some have been made bankrupt, some threatened with bankruptcy and some have successfully defended the suits against them.

In almost every case, though, franchisees find themselves significantly out of pocket, some financially destroyed. The only financial beneficiary of the schemes is Ian David Johnson, whose funds appear to disappear off shore as soon as they are paid over.

Ian Johnson often portrays himself as a "Chartered Accountant" both privately and publicly. Whilst he might have obtained a B.Bus (Acctg) (Bachelor of Business (Accounting)) qualification in Australia, there is no record of Mr Johnson completing his exams and becoming a Chartered or Chartered Certified Accountant in the UK. Professional accounting organisations both in the UK and Australia, such as ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales)ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), ICAS (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland) and ICAA (Institute of Charted Accountants Australia) confirmed that Mr Ian Johnson is not a member of their organisations.
