Well, well, well, so the Wedding of the Century is upon us. In a couple of days Ian Johnson and Pratima Patel are finally to tie the knot, declaring their love for each other before God and this showy congregation.
I wonder what percentage of the congregation will be there out of love for the “Happy Couple”, compared to those they have effectively “bought” – whom Ian Johnson likes to call “friends”. Until they are no longer making money for him, of course, at which point they too will be dropped like hot potatoes. One of the franchisees was invited to the wedding – his invitation was withdrawn when he declared his intention to leave The Infinite Group.
I wonder if Jim Lowrie will be gracing us with his Neanderthal presence? That would be a joy. Steve “The Weasel” Greenwood? Doubt it – not making Johnson any money these days.
But enough about the congregation – this is Bonnie and Clyde’s Big Day – no-one else’s.
I don’t know about you, but open declarations of true love always bring a tear to my eye. But funnily enough, not in this case.
This lavish and over-priced event – held over three days, no less – has nothing whatsoever to do with true love.
This sham of a wedding is little more than a crude display of their so-called “wealth”. The rent-a-crowd is designed to both demonstrate solidarity to the outside world and give Ian David Johnson some artificial comfort that his world is not actually crashing down around his ears.
Pratima Patel – and, for that matter, her son - are openly hostile towards Ian Johnson. She spends her days spending his money on expensive trinkets and vacuous beauty treatments. Unfortunately, she is not bright enough to realise that true beauty comes from within.
Ian Johnson spends his days drinking himself into oblivion – before driving his Aston Martin home.
Does this sound like happy, balanced people, about to make a lifelong commitment to each other? No, I don’t think so either.
I give it a year - tops...
